Light rail systems, subways and airports are facilities that contain huge varieties of fire hazards and and may witness huge losses of property and life if not protected properly. The installation of effective fire protection systems for these facilities start in design stages of the buildings whre the criterias imposed by standarts and regulations should be followed strictly. Especially for subways, insufficient or incorrect fire escapes may lead to great losses of life even in a case of fire that is successfully suppressed.
– Subway tunnels also need to have sufficient detection and suppression systems. Because of the vast amount of wires and electrical cables used in the tunnels, a lack of maintenance and/or faulty wires may lead to fires that are very hard to extinguish. Also the transformer rooms, generators, battery and communication centrals in the stations impose great electrical fire threats. Gaseous fire suppression systems should be installed for each of these enclosures.
